“Even now, I’m still not sure what happened,” Cooper shared during his conversation with Kelly Ripa on her Sirius XM podcast.

Anderson Cooper has been reminiscing about a memorable moment when he let his wild side show.
During an appearance on his friend Kelly Ripa’s Sirius XM podcast, “Let’s Talk Off Camera,” he looked back on the iconic 2015 incident when he danced onstage with Madonna.
“That I choose to forget. I’m mortified,” Cooper, 56, recalled. “I mean, I loved the whole idea, I love the experience of it. I don’t love the video that exists of it, the reality.”
In 2015, Cooper was unexpectedly brought onstage during the “Vogue” singer’s Rebel Heart concert at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. Madonna, 65, playfully interacted with him during her performance of “Unapologetic Bitch,” including spanking him and engaging in playful antics. Fans captured the entire moment on video.
Cooper also mentioned that he “didn’t know what the hell was going on. I was terrible. I danced terribly. It was mortifying.”
Anderson Cooper was also in awe of Madonna’s performance skills.
“We all watch people perform on these stages, and they make it seem like it’s all so natural and normal,” he shared. “Even the way they’re dancing, running, walking down the stage. I’m like, ‘I don’t know, do I skip?'”
After Madonna playfully danced with him onstage, she had him wait there while she presented him with a banana. Anderson Cooper shared his thoughts during that moment:
“All of a sudden you find yourself like you’re standing on this thing, and then she hands you a banana, and right before that she like pushed me over and humped me. Which I didn’t expect at all,” he recalled.
“So I open it up and I start to peel it and eat the banana, and then all of a sudden I start lowering down on this little electronic elevator disappearing on the stage just like eating this banana,” he added. “I don’t know. To this day, I don’t know what happened.”
Anderson Cooper and Madonna share a longstanding friendship. In 2013, Madonna presented Cooper with the Vito Russo Award at the GLAAD awards, and they shared an onstage kiss. In 2016, Cooper introduced her as the honoree at Billboard’s Woman of the Year event.
Madonna recently celebrated her 65th birthday, sharing a series of photos on Instagram and expressing, “It’s great to be alive.”
Her birthday celebration followed a period of health challenges, as she was hospitalized in June due to a severe bacterial infection, as confirmed by her longtime manager, Guy Oseary, in a June 28 Instagram post. On July 10, Madonna spoke out, announcing that she was on the road to recovery, and earlier this month, Live Nation confirmed the rescheduling of her Celebration Tour.
