Amanda Seyfried Falls Over After Impromptu “Beautiful Disaster” Duet with Kelly Clarkson

Seyfried called Clarkson’s live rendition of “Beautiful Disaster” the defining power ballad of this century.
It’s worth remembering that Amanda Seyfried has some serious vocal talent.
The 40-year-old actress stopped by The Kelly Clarkson Show on Tuesday, Jan. 27, where she couldn’t hide her admiration for Clarkson’s live version of “Beautiful Disaster.” Her praise quickly turned into a spontaneous musical moment when the two unexpectedly broke into a duet—ending with Seyfried dramatically flopping onto the couch afterward.
Calling the track “the power ballad of this century,” Seyfried raved about the song, which first appeared on Clarkson’s 2003 debut album, Thankful.
Clarkson, 43, responded that she had heard Seyfried especially loved the live rendition from her 2004 album Breakaway—which also happens to be Clarkson’s own favorite version. Seyfried agreed, admitting she’s barely listened to the original studio cut.
“I don’t like the other version either,” Clarkson joked. “Sorry. I love the live one.” The Grammy winner then pointed out that Seyfried could more than hold her own vocally, teasing the idea of singing together.
Clearly thrilled, Seyfried eagerly asked if they could actually do it. Clarkson agreed, suggesting Seyfried lead while she harmonized.
With live musicians backing them, the pair launched into the opening verse and chorus of “Beautiful Disaster.” Once they wrapped the chorus, Seyfried—who has previously showcased her singing in films like Mamma Mia!—collapsed back onto the couch, smiling in disbelief.
Clarkson later encouraged Seyfried to join her onstage in Las Vegas, saying she’s been trying to convince her to perform the song together during her residency.
The singer is set to take the stage in July and August for her Studio Sessions residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. Describing the show as deeply live and instrument-focused, Clarkson once again extended the invitation, urging Seyfried to come sing with her in Vegas for a special onstage moment.
