Barry Manilow Postpones Scheduled Concert at the Last Minute Because of Unexpected Circumstances

Barry Manilow had been set to take the stage in Kentucky on Tuesday, Aug. 4, before the performance was canceled.

Barry Manilow called off his concert in Lexington, Kentucky, only moments before he was set to perform on Tuesday, Aug. 4.

A message shared on the 83-year-old entertainer’s X account informed fans that the performance had been postponed because of “unforeseen circumstances.” No additional explanation was given regarding the sudden schedule change.

The concert at Rupp Arena had already faced one delay earlier this year. Originally planned for March 9, it was postponed after Manilow began treatment for stage 1 lung cancer.

In an interview earlier this year, the legendary singer reflected on how his diagnosis changed his outlook on life and music. He admitted that the experience reminded him how quickly life can change, explaining that undergoing surgery left him adjusting to physical changes while learning how to move forward.

Manilow revealed that doctors discovered the cancer in November 2025 during tests related to persistent hip pain and recurring bronchitis. After an MRI examined both his pelvis and lungs, physicians found a small spot that led to the diagnosis. He later said the unexpected scan likely saved his life because he had experienced no warning signs before the cancer was detected.

Throughout his recovery, the Grammy-winning performer said his husband and longtime manager, Garry Kief, played a vital role in helping him regain his confidence and strengthen his voice as he continued treatment.
