Beyoncé announced that her much-anticipated reveal, originally set for Tuesday, January 14, would be postponed.
In a statement shared on Instagram, the 43-year-old singer explained that the delay was due to the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles.
“The January 14th announcement will be postponed to a later date because of the devastation caused by the ongoing wildfires in parts of Los Angeles,” she wrote.
“I continue to pray for healing and recovery for the families affected by trauma and loss,” she added. “We are incredibly fortunate to have courageous first responders who are working tirelessly to protect the Los Angeles community.”
She wrapped up the statement by encouraging fans to “join our efforts in supporting those impacted” by visiting the BeyGood Foundation’s website.
The announcement delay came just hours after Beyoncé donated $2.5 million through the BeyGood Foundation to support L.A. wildfire relief efforts.
In a post shared on the foundation’s Instagram, Beyoncé explained that the donation would be “earmarked to aid families in the Altadena/Pasadena area who lost their homes, as well as churches and community centers” affected by the wildfires.
Fans had been eagerly speculating about the mystery announcement scheduled for January 14 ever since Beyoncé teased the date with a cryptic video on Christmas Day. After stunning audiences with her halftime performance on December 25, she posted a clip on Instagram showing herself in an all-white outfit, sitting on a white horse, and waving a flag, leaving many to wonder what the big reveal could be.
“Look at that horse,” she captioned the post, offering no clues about the upcoming reveal.
She then remained silent on social media until sharing her recent statement announcing the delay of the planned announcement.
