Beyoncé Overlooked by 2025 ACM Awards Despite Winning Several Country Grammys, Including Album of the Year

Beyoncé and her Grammy-winning album were noticeably absent from the nominee list for the 60th Academy of Country Music Awards.
The nominations, revealed on Thursday, March 27, saw Ella Langley leading the pack — with the “CUFF IT” singer missing from the lineup.
This exclusion follows Beyoncé’s success with Cowboy Carter, which earned her Grammys for Album of the Year, Country Album of the Year, and Best Country Duo/Group Performance for her Miley Cyrus collaboration, “II Most Wanted.”
Back in September, Beyoncé was similarly overlooked in the CMA Awards nominations. Following that announcement, celebrities like Luke Bryan, Whoopi Goldberg, Kelly Clarkson, and Billy Ray Cyrus shared their thoughts on the situation.
“I find it quite interesting,” Kelly Clarkson, 42, told NBC10 Boston regarding Beyoncé’s absence from the nominations. “I felt like those songs were everywhere.”
Cowboy Carter claimed the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 albums chart, while its lead single, Texas Hold ‘Em, also topped the Billboard Hot 100.
Reflecting on the challenges within country music, Clarkson added, “That’s a tough industry, even for me. I was once told during a lunch that unless I abandoned pop music and focused solely on country, I wouldn’t get airplay. I remember thinking, ‘Okay, no offense, but I’m never going to limit myself to just one genre.’”
When the Love on Top singer accepted the Grammy for Best Country Album, she admitted feeling “in shock” during her speech.
“Sometimes, I believe genre is used as a code word to keep artists in their place,” she remarked. “I just want to encourage people to keep going. Stay persistent.”
Prior to the Grammy Awards, the Single Ladies star led the nominations with 11 nods for her album Cowboy Carter.
At the ACM Awards, Ella Langley leads the nominations, followed closely by Morgan Wallen, Lainey Wilson, and Cody Johnson with seven nods each. Chris Stapleton earned six nominations, while Riley Green and Post Malone each received five.
The ceremony is set to take place in Frisco, Texas, on May 8, with Reba McEntire as the host. The event will feature performances from artists like Wilson, Blake Shelton, and Eric Church.
