Britney Spears Rings in the New Year With a Dance to Christina Aguilera
Britney Spears is kicking off 2026 with some energetic dancing.
On Sunday, January 4, the 44-year-old pop star posted a video to Instagram showing herself dancing to Christina Aguilera’s track “I Am.” Spears wore a sheer dress over an animal-print bra and panties, twirling around a room. At one point, she experienced a small wardrobe slip mid-dance, which she humorously covered with a pink flower emoji.
In the post’s caption, Spears wrote in French, “Found something in my luggage… well, you know… I never posted this! Well, whatever, I decided to reconsider. omg I had completely forgot …… darn it.”
Later that day, Spears shared two additional clips: one in which she danced in a light pink dress, and another where she moved to classical music.
Dancing videos have become a regular feature on Spears’ Instagram. Previous posts have included her grooving to ex Justin Timberlake’s 2003 hit “Señorita” as well as Michael and Janet Jackson’s “Scream.” In 2021, Spears defended her dancing videos against critics, writing, “If you don’t want to see my precious ass dancing in my living room or it’s not up to your standards … go read a f—— book 📕 !!!!!”
The choice of Aguilera’s song from her 2010 Bionic album is notable given the history between the two pop icons. Spears and Aguilera both rose to fame through Disney’s Mickey Mouse Club and became major pop stars in the late 1990s. While fans often compared them, and their careers had occasional rivalries, the two have generally supported each other over the years.
Since Spears’ conservatorship ended in 2021, Aguilera has publicly shown support for the mother of two, through media appearances and social media posts. Spears, in turn, has called Aguilera an inspiration and described her as “a beautiful woman of power.”
