On March 13, Mars drew attention when he appeared to have liked a tweet that criticized Swift, even calling her “talentless,” according to Pop Faction. The post included a video of Swift performing during her record-breaking Eras Tour, paired with a caption questioning her success in a controversial and offensive way. Reports later claimed that the like was removed.
Two days later, on March 15, Mars addressed the situation publicly on X. Responding to the circulating claims, he made it clear that he has nothing but respect for Swift, stating that she has always been kind and supportive toward him. He emphasized a message of positivity, encouraging users to spread love online.
It was also reported that the original tweet had been mistakenly attributed to the official account of BTS, though its true source remains unclear.
The controversy comes years after Mars and his Silk Sonic collaborator Anderson .Paak jokingly reacted to Swift outperforming them on the charts in 2021. At the time, .Paak playfully suggested teaming up with Swift, while Mars chimed in with a humorous response, even sharing a photoshopped image referencing her 1989 album.
Currently, Mars is preparing for a major world tour following the release of his fourth studio album, The Romantic. The tour is set to begin on April 10 at Allegiant Stadium, before heading across North America and Europe. The shows will feature performances from artists including .Paak (as DJ Pee .Wee), Leon Thomas, Victoria Monét, and Raye.
Mars most recently took the stage at the Grammy Awards 2026, where he performed alongside ROSÉ. Their collaboration earned nominations in major categories, including Song of the Year, Record of the Year, and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.
