Céline Dion Opens Up About Choosing Residency Shows to Reconnect with Fans She’s ‘Missed’

By Website Content Manager

The Grammy-winning singer is scheduled to take the stage for more than 20 performances in Paris, with the residency running from September through May.

Céline Dion is preparing to return to live performances, with her upcoming Paris concerts inspired in large part by the fans who have supported her throughout her career.

The Grammy-winning singer, 58, is scheduled to perform more than a dozen shows in Paris beginning next month, followed by another 10 performances planned for May 2027. The concerts come about four years after Dion revealed that she had been diagnosed with stiff-person syndrome.

In a Harper’s BAZAAR cover story published Tuesday, Aug. 18, Dion explained that returning to the stage is her way of expressing her appreciation to the fans she has been unable to see for so long. She said she wanted to give them something meaningful in return and let them know how much she had missed them.

Dion also credited her longtime supporters for giving her the opportunity to build the career she has today. She explained that their support through ticket purchases and record sales was one reason she believed they deserved to hear directly from her about her health struggles.

Her head of wardrobe and creative adviser, Annie Horth, teased that the upcoming concerts would be elaborate productions. She also said the performances would highlight Dion’s versatility, moving from intimate and romantic moments to the powerful vocals audiences have come to expect from her.

Dion was diagnosed with stiff-person syndrome in August 2022. The uncommon neurological and autoimmune condition can result in muscle stiffness, difficulty moving, painful spasms and breathing problems.

Despite her health challenges, Dion made her first major performance since her diagnosis at the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics. She later returned to the stage in November of that year for the 1001 Seasons of Elie Saab fashion show in Saudi Arabia.

The singer announced her plans for future concerts in a social media video posted in March.

To prepare for her return, Dion said she has been undergoing physical and vocal therapy, immunotherapy and medication treatments. Her routine also includes Pilates three times a week as well as ballet training.

Dion said her openness with fans has always been an important part of their connection. She acknowledged that life includes both positive and difficult experiences, but emphasized that she has chosen to continue embracing life rather than constantly questioning it.

The singer previously discussed her battle with stiff-person syndrome in a 2024 PEOPLE cover story. She also expressed hope that her documentary, I Am: Celine Dion, would inspire and give strength to others facing difficult circumstances.
