The singer-songwriter was set to perform at both days of the All Things Go festival on September 28 and 29.
Chappell Roan has withdrawn from two upcoming festival performances, expressing the need to focus on her mental health.
The 26-year-old singer of “Good Luck, Babe!” was set to appear at both the All Things Go music festival in New York City on September 28 and in Columbia, Maryland, on September 29.
However, on September 27, she announced via Instagram that she would not be performing, sharing that the pressures associated with her rapid rise to fame had become “overwhelming.”
“I apologize to those who have been looking forward to seeing me in NYC and DC this weekend at All Things Go, but I am unable to perform. The past few weeks have been quite intense, and I’m truly feeling it,” Roan wrote in her Instagram Stories. “I feel the need to prioritize several aspects of my life right now and need a few days to focus on my health. I want to be fully present during my performances and deliver the best shows possible. Thank you for your understanding. I’ll be back soon xox.”
In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), the All Things Go festival emphasized the importance of prioritizing health and well-being for both fans and artists.
“All Things Go firmly supports artists in taking care of their mental health, and we encourage our community to come together in love and understanding for Chappell Roan,” the statement said. “Let’s demonstrate that music fans value not only the art but also the artists behind it.”
These cancellations follow Roan’s decision to cancel her performances in Paris and Amsterdam earlier in September due to scheduling conflicts.
“I’m truly sorry and very disappointed 🙁 I promise I will return,” she expressed at that time. “I’m heartbroken 💔 Thank you for your understanding.”
The singer-songwriter, who recently won Best New Artist at the MTV Video Music Awards, has been candid about her challenges with fame. In an interview with The Face earlier this month, she mentioned that she might consider leaving the music industry if it becomes overwhelming.
During the interview, she recounted a troubling experience at an airport, where two male fans followed her to TSA, verbally harassing her while asking for autographs.
“I was just thinking, ‘What the heck is happening?’” she told the outlet. “I promised myself that if this ever felt dangerous, I might walk away. It feels dangerous now, and yet I’m still pushing through. But that aspect isn’t what I signed up for.”
She also expressed that she perceives fame as “abusive.”
“The whole experience—being stalked, facing online harassment, and having people shout at you in public—feels akin to the behavior of an abusive ex-husband,” Roan elaborated. “That’s what it feels like. I didn’t expect it to be this difficult.”
The star gained significant attention in August when she shared an emotional message on TikTok, urging fans to respect her privacy.
