Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter, Camila Cabello, and other artists are set to perform at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards, with the event’s date being rescheduled.

The three superstars, along with a host of other artists, will take the stage at the VMAs on its newly scheduled date, September 11.
Music’s most iconic night is set to become even more thrilling with its initial lineup of performers.
On Monday, August 12, the MTV Video Music Awards revealed that Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter, Camila Cabello, GloRilla, and Rauw Alejandro will perform live at the event on September 11, held at New York’s UBS Arena.
With the exception of Cabello, all the performers will be making their debut on the VMAs main stage. Cabello, a four-time Grammy nominee, will return to the VMAs for a third time to perform tracks from her latest album, C,XOXO. Following her record-breaking appearances at Lollapalooza and Governor’s Ball earlier this summer, breakout star Roan will also make her debut at an award show with her performance at the VMAs.
The list of performers announced for the 2024 VMAs is just a glimpse of what’s to come, with MTV set to unveil the full lineup in the upcoming weeks. All of the performers announced so far have received nominations for this year’s VMAs, with Carpenter leading the nominations with six, including artist of the year and song of the year for her hit “Espresso.”
Roan stands out with a nomination for best new artist, and also shares a nod for MTV Push performance of the year with GloRilla. Alejandro is up for best Latin artist, while Cabello is nominated for best pop artist.
Additionally, this year’s VMAs feature 29 first-time nominees, including Carpenter, Roan, Alejandro, Tyla, Jelly Roll, Sexxy Red, Victoria Monét, and others.
Along with the list of performers, MTV revealed on Monday that the 2024 VMAs will be rescheduled from September 10 to September 11, to coincide with the 23rd anniversary of 9/11. The network highlighted its commitment to supporting the nonprofit 9/11 Day (also known as September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance) and Tuesday’s Children, which honors the families affected by the events of 9/11.
As announced earlier, Taylor Swift leads the nominations for the 2024 VMAs with a total of 10 nods, followed closely by her “Fortnight” collaborator Post Malone with nine nominations. Other prominent artists in the running for Moon People awards this year include Ariana Grande, Eminem, Megan Thee Stallion, SZA, and Olivia Rodrigo.
Fans can cast their votes for their favorite categories at vote.mtv.com until Friday, August 30. The 2024 MTV Video Music Awards will be broadcast live on Wednesday, September 11, at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
