Demi Lovato Delivers ‘Cool for the Summer’ Energy as Surprise Guest at Puerto Vallarta Hotel Launch

Demi Lovato is bringing the summer vibes.
The 32-year-old singer made a surprise appearance at The Tryst hotel’s grand opening in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, on Friday, April 25.
After striking a pose on the red carpet in sunglasses and jeans, Lovato took to the hotel’s rooftop to perform her hit song “Cool for the Summer” from 2015. The evening also featured a DJ set by Leland, keeping the party going for the dancing crowd.
The star-studded event was attended by a variety of celebrities, including Jennifer Coolidge, Real Housewives stars Erika Jayne, Cynthia Bailey, and Sonja Morgan, along with Antoni Porowski, Julia Fox, Laverne Cox, Chrishell Stause, Sam Asghari, TS Madison, Kate del Castillo, Matt Rogers, Chris Appleton, and more.
The Tryst is a luxury boutique hotel designed for LGBTQ+ travelers, founded by entrepreneur Tristan Schukraft. Schukraft emphasized the welcoming atmosphere, stating, “Here, you can be who you are without fear of judgment, and you’ll meet like-minded people from the community.” He also shared plans to open another location on New York’s Fire Island.
Lovato expressed her support for LGBTQ+ spaces like The Tryst, calling them “vital in today’s world.”
“Knowing that there’s a place where you’re not just safe, but truly celebrated, is invaluable,” she said. “When we travel, we want to feel a sense of belonging, not just tolerance, but genuine acceptance. These spaces remind us how powerful joy, community, and chosen family are.”
She concluded, “Honestly, no one throws a celebration like the queer community.”
Coolidge, another special guest at the event, echoed Lovato’s sentiment, agreeing that the LGBTQ+ community knows how to have a great time. The White Lotus star, 63, shared with PEOPLE on the red carpet that her stay at The Tryst helped her make many new friends.
“Gay men and women really know how to let go and have a blast — they know how to make any event fun,” Coolidge said. “They’re incredibly original. Honestly, it’s just such an amazing group of people. I can’t get enough of it.”
The weekend celebrations marking The Tryst’s opening featured performances by Vincint and Drag Race México host Taiga Brava, along with DJ sets by RuPaul’s Drag Race stars Gottmik and Violet Chachki on Thursday, April 24. On Saturday, April 26, the festivities will include a drag brunch performance by Shea Couleé and a pool party hosted by Erika Jayne.
