Elton John Teams Up with Chappell Roan for a ‘Nothing Short of Magical’ Duet at 2025 Oscars Party

Chappell Roan joined her friend Elton John for a show-stopping performance on Oscars night.
On Sunday, March 2, the 27-year-old singer took the stage alongside the Rocket Man legend, 77, for a powerful duet of his 1974 classic Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me at the Elton John AIDS Foundation’s Academy Awards viewing party.
In a video shared on John’s Instagram, he played piano while delivering the heartfelt lyrics, as Roan danced and sang along beside him.
Adding to the unforgettable night, John donned a glittery pink cowboy hat to join Roan in performing her fan-favorite song Pink Pony Club at the star-studded event in West Hollywood.
He reflected on the special moment in his caption, writing, “Sharing this moment together at #EJAFOscars was nothing short of magical 💖 For one night, we transformed West Hollywood Park into our own Pink Pony Club—a space filled with love and community, where everyone can be unapologetically themselves ✨.”
Before Sunday’s performance, John reminisced about Roan’s appearance on his Rocket Hour show in September 2023, expressing that watching her journey to success has been “such a joy.”
“From the moment we discovered @chappellroan, we knew she was destined for stardom,” he wrote in an Instagram post, emphasizing, “She’s not only an extraordinary talent but also a strong advocate for her beliefs.”
He continued, “We’re thrilled to have her join us this Sunday at @ejaf’s Oscar Party, where we’ll unite to raise crucial funds for our cause and remind the world that love always prevails ❤️ #EJAFOscars.”
Roan made another appearance on John’s show in late May 2024, where he shared how much she had influenced him.
“I called you the other night and said, ‘Look, I promise I’m not stalking you, but I’m just as excited about your album’s success as you are,’” John remarked. “It’s truly incredible to see genuine talent getting the recognition it deserves.”
The duo enjoyed a pizza party the next month, with John sharing a photo on Instagram and writing, “An incredible night filled with pizza and endless laughter with the amazingly talented @chappellroan.”
He further expressed his admiration in the June 24, 2024, caption, saying, “Absolutely love her! 🚀❤️🌈.”
