Gwen Stefani Clarifies That Her New Album Bouquet Is ‘Not a Country Record’ but Influenced by the ‘Music I’m Listening to Now.’

Although Gwen Stefani donned a cowboy hat in the promotional photo for her album Bouquet, she clarified that she isn’t focusing on country music. “It’s not a country record,” she stated in an interview with Rolling Stone released on Friday, September 20.
Although the album was recorded in Nashville, it features a collection of ’70s pop-rock tracks infused with Stefani’s distinctive style.
“It’s all the music I listened to in the station wagon on the way to church,” she shared about the upcoming album. “Yacht rock, although it wasn’t referred to as yacht rock back then. I wanted this album to reflect the music I enjoy now.”
At 54, Stefani emphasized her intention for Bouquet to make “one big statement.”
“That’s why I think Bouquet is the perfect title,” she explained. “Each song was chosen with significance.”
On Wednesday, September 18, Stefani announced that her fifth studio album, Bouquet, will be released on November 15, marking her first new solo LP in seven years.
“my fifth studio album, ‘Bouquet’, will be in full bloom on November 15th 💐,” the The Voice coach shared on social media.
On Friday, September 20, she debuted “Somebody Else’s,” the latest single from Bouquet.
In this country-rock track, the “Spiderwebs” singer reflects on her decision to move on from an ex and the relief she feels now that he is “somebody else’s problem.”
“I don’t know what a heart like mine was doin’ in a love like that,” Stefani begins the song. “I don’t know what a woman like me was doing with a man like you / But now I got a love so true.”
In the chorus, she sings: “Now that I’ve found the real thing / You don’t compare / And I don’t care that you’re somebody else’s / And it doesn’t even break my heart / You’re somebody else’s / And I pray for them, whoever they are.”
