A YouTube video posted last month, showing what appears to be Swift standing up for a concertgoer at her Eras Tour, has gained massive attention with over 5 million views. However, the footage isn’t actually from the singer herself.
The clip, uploaded on Sept. 5 by the YouTube channel Behind the Fame and titled “Taylor Swift Protects Fan from Hateful Comments,” begins with what looks like an authentic scene of Swift talking—but the mismatched audio and lip movements suggest otherwise.

A viral YouTube video that appears to show Taylor Swift passionately defending a fan criticized for her Eras Tour outfit has racked up over 5 million views—but the clip isn’t real.
In the video, a voice remarkably similar to Swift’s talks about a concertgoer who was “all dressed up, so beautifully” for the Eras Tour and seemed thrilled to be there. The voice goes on to comment on “people being so mean in the comments, laughing about how she looked,” expressing heartbreak over the cruelty. “No one deserves to be made fun of for being who they are,” the AI-generated voice says.
Although many viewers believed the footage was authentic, the video’s description on YouTube clarifies that it was created using artificial intelligence. Uploaded on September 5 by the channel Behind the Fame and titled “Taylor Swift Protects Fan from Hateful Comments,” the clip features an “AI-generated voice used for storytelling (inspired by Taylor Swift’s tone)” and a “fictional story written and edited” by the channel’s creator. The description also states, “This video is a creative work and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Taylor Swift.”
Swift herself has previously expressed anxiety over the misuse of AI. In a September 2024 Instagram post announcing her endorsement of Kamala Harris for president, she referenced a fabricated video of her seemingly supporting Donald Trump’s campaign. “Recently I became aware of an AI version of ‘me’ falsely endorsing Donald Trump’s presidential run,” she wrote. “It really stirred up my fears about AI and the risks of spreading misinformation.”
She added that the incident motivated her to be transparent about her political stance: “The best way to fight misinformation is with the truth.”
Fellow country legend Dolly Parton also recently called out AI-generated fabrications. Addressing fake images showing Reba McEntire visiting her on her supposed deathbed, Parton joked in an Instagram video, “Did you see that AI picture of Reba and me? They had us both looking like we were ready to be buried! But honestly, if I were really dying, I doubt Reba would be the one at my deathbed—she’d probably visit me sooner.”
