Jennifer Lopez Addresses Personal Growth Following Ben Affleck Divorce at Las Vegas Residency Debut

The “All I Have” singer launched her concert residency on Tuesday, Dec. 30.
Jennifer Lopez playfully addressed her love life, giving a nod to her ex-husband Ben Affleck, during the opening night of her Las Vegas residency.
On Tuesday, Dec. 30, the 56-year-old “Let’s Get Loud” singer kicked off her Up All Night shows at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. Reflecting on the decade since her previous residency at Planet Hollywood’s Zappos Theater, Lopez remarked on how much has changed in her life over the years.
“It’s such an honor to be asked back. Can you believe it’s been 10 years? Almost to the day—it was in January. Time really flies, doesn’t it?” she told the audience.
She then made a humorous comment about her marital history. “And in that time, I’ve only been married twice,” she said, prompting laughter. “That’s not true. It was only once. But it felt like twice,” she added, earning more laughs.
“I’m just kidding, it’s over, and it’s fine,” she continued, kicking the air for comedic effect as a cymbal crashed behind her. “The good news is, I’m learning, I’m growing, and we’re in our happy era. I’m in my happy era.”
Lopez first dated Affleck, 53, between 2002 and 2004 after meeting on the set of Gigli. They reunited in 2021 and married at A Little White Wedding Chapel in July 2022, before Lopez filed for divorce in August 2024, coinciding with the two-year anniversary of the larger celebration at Affleck’s Georgia estate.
Speaking in September on CBS News Sunday Morning, Lopez described the split as transformative. “It changed me. It helped me grow in a way I needed,” she said, calling the wisdom she gained “the best thing that ever happened to me.”
Despite the divorce, the exes have maintained a cordial relationship. They reunited in October at the premiere of Lopez’s film Kiss of the Spider Woman, which Affleck produced, and were also seen shopping together in Los Angeles with Affleck’s 13-year-old son Samuel on Dec. 21. Affleck also has children Violet, 20, and Seraphina, 16, with ex-wife Jennifer Garner, while Lopez shares 17-year-old twins Max and Emme with ex-husband Marc Anthony.
During the residency’s opening night, Lopez also referenced her split from Anthony, 57. “I do love to dance, and if you take anything from this show tonight, it’s this little story,” she said. “It was after my third divorce that I really started getting good at it. Seriously, it was a rough time. I was a single mom with two little 3-year-old twins. I had a mentor then, Louise Hay, a very wise woman.”
