Jennifer Lopez Set to Host the 2025 American Music Awards — A Decade After Her 2015 Hosting Debut

The “Let’s Get Loud” singer hinted at a comeback to the AMAs stage last year during the celebration of the award show’s 50th anniversary.
Jennifer Lopez is making her return to the American Music Awards stage.
It was officially revealed on Wednesday, April 9, that the “Let’s Get Loud” performer will host the 2025 AMAs, marking a full decade since she last hosted the event in 2015.
“We’re beyond excited to have Jennifer Lopez back as the host of the American Music Awards,” said Jay Penske, CEO of Dick Clark Productions, in a press release. “Her unmatched talent and dynamic stage presence make her the perfect choice. We’re confident she’ll infuse the show with her signature energy as we kick off the summer in style.”
Back in 2015, Jennifer Lopez, now 55, kicked off the American Music Awards with a high-energy dance routine featuring a medley of that year’s biggest hits. When the AMAs celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2024, the Hustlers star looked back on her debut appearance in a recorded interview.
“Fifty years of the American Music Awards — that’s pretty incredible,” she said. “I remember watching them at home when I was a little girl.”
Lopez first hit the AMAs stage in 2001. “It feels like a lifetime ago, but the energy in that room was unforgettable,” she recalled. Over the years, she’s performed at the show more than ten times.
Jennifer Lopez also reflected on her 2011 win for Favorite Latin Artist, calling the moment especially meaningful. “Winning a fan-voted award is incredibly special because it comes directly from the people you create the music for,” she said. “It’s such a humbling experience.”
In the same interview, the Waiting For Tonight singer hinted at a possible return to hosting. “I decided I was going to wear a different outfit every time I stepped onstage,” she said, recalling her past experience. “We opened with this amazing dance medley featuring the year’s biggest hits, and I wanted everyone to feel the love and energy in the room.”
“Maybe I’ll do it again someday. Who knows?” she teased.
In addition to her numerous performances at the American Music Awards, Jennifer Lopez has taken home three AMAs over the years: Favorite Pop/Rock Female Artist in 2003, and Favorite Latin Artist in both 2007 and 2011.
Set to take place on Memorial Day, the 2025 AMAs will also include a special tribute honoring the men and women of the U.S. armed forces.
