An artist who dedicated nine hours to painting a portrait of Jennifer Lopez received the surprise of a lifetime—an invitation to meet the global superstar backstage.
On Saturday, July 12, Spanish painter Esther Moya González, known for creating live portraits of musicians outside their concert venues, had the chance to personally present her artwork to Lopez during the singer’s performance at the Movistar Arena in Madrid.
In an Instagram post shared on Monday, July 13, González expressed her joy: “Picture of @jlo painted for 9 hours in the queue of her concert in Madrid ❤️ THANK YOU FROM THE HEART IT’S A DAY I WILL NEVER FORGET ❤️ ✨.”
The post featured the final portrait of Lopez—captured in a lifelike pose, glancing over her shoulder—as well as behind-the-scenes photos of González working on the piece while standing outside the venue. She also included shots of her enjoying the concert and a Reel that documented her emotional journey from painting to presenting the finished work.
In the video, a member of Lopez’s team reveals that the singer is waiting just behind a backstage door, prompting a visibly overwhelmed González to cover her mouth in disbelief. “This is very heavy,” she says, reflecting on the intense nine hours she spent bringing the portrait to life.
In the caption of the video, she wrote: “DREAM FULFILLED ✨ Painting delivered to @jlo ❤️ at her concert in Madrid painted in 9 hours, thank you from the heart to all ❤️❤️ JLO has said that my painting is AMAZING! 🔥.”
Clearly emotional, González also admitted she wasn’t sure how she would react upon meeting Lopez. The video then shows Lopez—wearing a glittering purple crop top and low-rise jeans—standing next to the portrait and saying with a smile: “It is so good! Wow. I’ve seen paintings of myself that are not good. This is amazing.”
Following the heartfelt meeting, González became tearful while thanking everyone who helped her realize the moment. Lopez later reshared the Reel on her Instagram Stories, offering her own seal of appreciation for the touching tribute.
