Kelly Clarkson gave fans a humorous but very candid account of a recent health scare while performing during her Studio Sessions residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
Addressing the audience, the singer said she wondered whether she may have contracted cyclosporiasis, a foodborne parasitic illness that has recently seen a rise in reported cases across the United States. Clarkson admitted she wasn’t certain what caused her symptoms, joking that it might have been linked to contaminated lettuce or another food item.
She recalled feeling unwell during the previous night’s performance before rushing back to her hotel room afterward. Clarkson humorously described the aftermath, saying she was relieved she wasn’t sharing the room with a partner because the experience was so unpleasant. Comparing the ordeal to the outrageous bathroom scene from Bridesmaids, she joked that her own situation was even worse and admitted she initially believed it was over, only for the symptoms to continue.
Despite the uncomfortable experience, Clarkson found one silver lining, telling the crowd she appreciated that the hotel bathrooms were equipped with heated toilet seats.
Keeping the mood light, she laughed that stories like this might leave her single forever before joking that she hoped to eventually find someone who could appreciate her quirks.
Clarkson then wrapped up the story by reassuring the audience that she was feeling much better and expected the evening’s performance to go smoothly.
According to recent health reports, nearly 7,000 cases of cyclosporiasis have been recorded across the United States, with raw produce—including lettuce—being investigated as a possible source of infection.
Clarkson’s current Studio Sessions residency resumed on July 17 and runs through August 15, while her newest single, “I’d Be Lyin'”, was released earlier this month.
