Lady Gaga delivered a soulful take on D— in a Box alongside Andy Samberg to kick off an epic Lonely Island medley during the SNL concert special.

The SNL 50: The Homecoming Concert took place at Radio City Music Hall in New York City on February 14.
Lady Gaga showcased her award-winning vocals on an iconic (and slightly cheeky) Saturday Night Live tune during the show’s special 50th anniversary concert.
The pop sensation joined Andy Samberg on stage at Radio City Music Hall in New York City on February 14, kicking off a star-studded tribute to Samberg’s famous comedy group, The Lonely Island.
After a slightly off-key performance of Gaga’s A Star Is Born hit Shallow, the pop star turned the spotlight to Samberg with something more suited to his style: the 2009 SNL parody song D— in a Box, which Samberg originally performed with Justin Timberlake.
Gaga took on Timberlake’s part, playing the piano and adding a soulful twist to the comedic hit. They then transitioned into Motherlover, another Timberlake and Samberg collaboration from 2009.
The duo’s performance led into a nostalgic journey through some of The Lonely Island’s most iconic sketches and songs. First, former cast member Chris Parnell joined Samberg for an updated version of Lazy Sunday from 2009. The medley also included references to other popular Lonely Island sketches, like Laser Cats and Dear Sister.
Bad Bunny then returned to the stage for an operatic rendition of I Just Had Sex from 2011, followed by T-Pain, who arrived with mermaids to revisit his 2009 hit I’m on a Boat. The reunion culminated in an energetic performance of Jack Sparrow from 2011.
Toward the end of the concert, Gaga returned for a solo performance of Shallow — this time without Samberg.
The SNL 50: The Homecoming Concert also featured performances from Miley Cyrus, Post Malone, Jelly Roll, Backstreet Boys, Arcade Fire, Bonnie Raitt, Brandi Carlile, Brittany Howard, Chris Martin, David Byrne, DEVO, Eddie Vedder, Jack White, Mumford & Sons, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Robyn, The B-52s, and The Roots.
Late last month, after teasing fans with a series of hints on her official website, Lady Gaga confirmed the release of her seventh studio album, Mayhem, set for March 7.
The album will include 14 tracks, featuring the previously released singles Disease and Die With a Smile, a collaboration with Bruno Mars.
In a press statement, the Grammy-winning artist shared that Mayhem represents her return to her pop roots in a fresh, new way. “The album started as me facing my fear of returning to the pop music my earliest fans loved,” Gaga explained.
Gaga also described the album as “reassembling a shattered mirror: even if you can’t put the pieces back together perfectly, you can create something beautiful and whole in its own new way.”
According to the press release, Mayhem explores themes of “chaos and transformation,” celebrating the power of music to unite, provoke, and heal.
