Lady Gaga Is Just One Award Short of Achieving EGOT Status with a Sports Emmy

The singer received recognition for her pre-recorded rendition of “Hold My Hand,” performed prior to the 2025 Super Bowl in New Orleans.
Lady Gaga is just one award away from completing EGOT status.
The “Perfect Celebrity” singer earned a Sports Emmy on Tuesday, May 20, for Outstanding Music Direction for her pre-recorded performance at the 2025 Super Bowl. She shared the award with fellow producers Seth Dudowsky, Bill Richards, Joel Santos, Jesse Weiss, Brad Zager, and music editor Joe Nargi.
At 39, Gaga performed “Hold My Hand” from Top Gun: Maverick on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, paying tribute to those impacted by the January New Orleans terror attack and the Los Angeles wildfires.
She was accompanied by NFL legends Tom Brady, Michael Strahan, and Terry Bradshaw, as well as first responders.
“This year began with a terror attack that sought to break New Orleans’ spirit. However, the city’s resilience is a testament to the strength of our entire nation,” said Michael Strahan, 53, before Lady Gaga’s performance.
Tom Brady, 47, added, “In times of tragedy, we don’t fall apart — we unite.”
Other nominees for the Outstanding Music Direction Sports Emmy included Evolution of the Black Quarterback on Prime Video, The Lionheart from HBO Max, Noche UFC: For Mexico, For All Time on ESPN+, and Netflix’s The Turnaround.
This Emmy brings Gaga closer to joining the exclusive group of EGOT winners—those who have earned an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Award. Only 26 individuals have achieved this distinction, including Elton John, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Jennifer Hudson, and John Legend.
Gaga herself has won 14 Grammy Awards, covering categories like Album of the Year, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, Female Pop Vocal Performance, and Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album.
In 2019, Gaga, alongside co-writers Mark Ronson, Anthony Rossomando, and Andrew Wyatt, earned the Oscar for Best Original Song for “Shallow” from A Star Is Born. While accepting the award, she expressed gratitude toward her co-star and duet partner, Bradley Cooper.
“Bradley, there isn’t anyone else in the world who could’ve sung this song with me,” she said. “Thank you for believing in us. Thank you so much.”
