Lady Gaga Joins Cast of Wednesday as Netflix Unveils Opening Scene of Season 2

The show starring Jenna Ortega is set to return with its second season, with Part 1 premiering on August 6.
Netflix is giving fans of Wednesday plenty to be excited about.
At the Tudum 2025 live event on Saturday, May 31, the streamer premiered the first six minutes of the eagerly awaited second season. After nearly three years, viewers finally got a sneak peek at the eerie adventures Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday Addams will embark on this time around.
The preview opens with Wednesday bound in a serial killer’s basement, surrounded by oversized dolls, as she quips, “Who said nightmares don’t come true?” She explains, “He’s convinced I’m his next victim. I’ll let him hold onto that idea while I tell you how I ended up here.”
Then the story flashes back six weeks earlier, showing Wednesday spending her summer break doing what any typical teenager might — honing her psychic skills. Now in control of her powers, she begins investigating the Kansas City Scalper, who turns out to have been her favorite serial killer growing up.
The following scene humorously depicts Wednesday unloading her weapons — and Thing — at airport security, a moment previously featured in the teaser Netflix dropped in April.
Shortly after, Wednesday confronts the Kansas City Scalper, revealed to be played by Haley Joel Osment, who presents her with a custom-made doll resembling her.
“Let me show you some of my own work,” she says to the killer as the clip ends.
Back at Tudum, the cast of Wednesday announced that Lady Gaga will appear in a guest role for season 2. This marked Netflix’s first official confirmation of her involvement, exciting fans who speculated about her connection after her song “Bloody Mary” featured in season 1.
Details about Gaga’s character have yet to be disclosed.
Gaga capped off the event with a dazzling performance, including “Bloody Mary” and her hit “Abracadabra.”
Wednesday’s first season, co-created by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, premiered in November 2022, showcasing Tim Burton’s unique interpretation of the iconic Addams Family character. Both the series and Jenna Ortega received nominations for prestigious awards including the Emmys and Golden Globes.
Returning for season two are key cast members portraying Wednesday’s family: Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia, Luis Guzmán as Gomez, and Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley. Thing, played by Victor Dorobantu, and Uncle Fester, portrayed by Fred Armisen, also reprise their roles.
New additions this season include Joanna Lumley as Grandmama Hester Frump, and Joonas Suotamo stepping in as Lurch, replacing George Burcea from the first season.
The season also welcomes Steve Buscemi as Principal Dort, the head of Nevermore Academy; Billie Piper as Isadora Capri, the music department head; Christopher Lloyd playing Professor Orloff, the school’s longest-tenured teacher; Thandiwe Newton as Dr. Rachael Fairburn, the chief psychiatrist at Willow Hill Psychiatric Facility; and Heather Matarazzo as Judi, Dr. Fairburn’s assistant.
Netflix teased season two back in April with a trailer that humorously showed Ortega’s Wednesday unloading her weapons at airport security while heading back to school.
In the same teaser, Wednesday refers to her return to Nevermore as “returning to the scene of the crime,” quipping, “I already know where the bodies are buried.”
