Lulu Simon joked that sharing the same birthday as Madison Beer might help her secure a spot on the Locket Tour, hoping their birthday connection would work in her favor.

Madison Beer’s Locket Tour officially begins on Monday, May 11, with its opening show taking place in Kraków.

Lulu Simon first caught attention in 2018 and 2019 with synth-pop tracks such as “Wasted” and “I Wanna Break Ur Heart.” Reflecting on that period, the 31-year-old artist shared that although she admired upbeat pop performers like Carly Rae Jepsen and Kim Petras, creating energetic pop music never felt completely natural to her.

Music has always been part of Lulu’s world as the daughter of legendary musicians Paul Simon and Edie Brickell, as well as the sister of fellow artists. Over the last seven years and several EP releases, she says she has gained a stronger understanding of herself and her artistic identity.

At first, Lulu hoped she would eventually feel comfortable fitting into the polished “pop girl” image, but she later realized that style required a level of performance and physical presence that did not genuinely suit her personality. More recently, she has embraced a folk-pop sound that feels more authentic and natural to her strengths as a songwriter.

This year, the singer has released a series of deeply personal tracks, including “Misty,” “Happy Again,” and “Somewhere Else,” all of which will appear on an upcoming EP. The project draws heavily from emotional experiences and the difficulty of moving on from the past.

Lulu also spoke about joining Madison Beer’s world tour as an opening act, joking that the two artists sharing the same birthday may have helped her chances of landing the opportunity. Alongside discussing the tour, she opened up about her dream musical collaboration and the personal struggles that inspired her latest music.
