Madonna Makes History with Confessions II, Securing Her 10th No. 1 Album After Five Decades

By Website Content Manager

Madonna has reached another career milestone, becoming only the second act after the Beatles to score 10 No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200, 10 chart-toppers on the Billboard Hot 100, and 10 No. 1 albums and singles on the U.K. Official Charts.

Madonna has added another historic achievement to her legendary career.

The 67-year-old music icon and seven-time Grammy winner has earned her 10th No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 with Confessions II, extending her record as one of pop music’s most successful artists.

According to an official announcement, the album sold more than 134,000 equivalent units in the United States during its opening week. The milestone places Madonna alongside the Beatles as the only acts to reach 10 chart-topping albums on both the Billboard 200 and the U.K. Official Albums Chart.

The highly anticipated sequel to her 2005 album Confessions on a Dance Floor has been met with widespread praise from fans and critics alike. Shortly after its release, Madonna surprised audiences with a special Club Confessions performance at the Knockdown Center in Brooklyn on July 11, following similar pop-up appearances in West Hollywood, Paris, and London. Many reviewers have described Confessions II as her strongest album since the original Confessions on a Dance Floor, with some already predicting Grammy recognition.

Throughout the record, Madonna reflects on deeply personal experiences. She honors her late brother, Christopher, in the emotional track “Fragile,” expresses regret and reconciliation with her eldest daughter, Lola Leon, in their duet “The Test,” and looks back on her early years in the music industry in “Danceteria,” paying tribute to the friends who supported her rise to fame.

Appearing on the BBC’s The Graham Norton Show last month, Madonna spoke about her creative process, explaining that songwriting often feels instinctive and that inspiration arrives naturally when she doesn’t force it. She singled out “One Step Away” as a song that came directly from the heart.

Before the album’s release, Madonna continued to generate excitement with a series of headline-making appearances. She staged a surprise performance in New York City’s Times Square and unveiled an experimental short film during the Tribeca Festival. The project follows her through what she described as a surreal and chaotic night, taking viewers on a visually immersive journey.

She also revealed that longtime manager Guy Oseary encouraged her to create the film, adding that she collaborated with her directing team for six months to bring the project to life.

Sharing a message with fans, Madonna encouraged them to embrace uncertainty, stay curious, pay attention to the world around them, and spend less time looking at their phones in order to connect more meaningfully with others.
