Mariah Carey Shares the Vow Rihanna Made After Autographing Her Chest at a Holiday Show

During her appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Thursday, July 24, the 56-year-old music icon shared a memorable story involving Rihanna. Carey recalled that at the final stop of her Christmas Time tour at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center last December, she autographed Rihanna’s chest—and the pop star made a playful promise afterward.

When guest host Fortune Feimster asked if signing body parts was a frequent fan request, Carey responded, “Not really,” noting, “Sometimes someone will ask me to sign their arm or something, but that was definitely a one-of-a-kind moment. We love Rihanna.”

Feimster joked, “I hope she got that tattooed on her boob,” prompting Carey to reveal that Rihanna, 37, had actually vowed to do just that.

“She said she would, but I’m not so sure she followed through,” Carey said with a laugh.

The playful exchange between Mariah Carey and Rihanna took place last year during a festive concert moment. As Carey, best known for her holiday hit “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” was returning to the stage after greeting fans, a security guard informed her of something that made her turn back toward the audience—where Rihanna was waiting.

“I told them, ‘You can’t call me a diva now—I’m literally walking back down the stairs,’” Carey joked in a December interview with PEOPLE.

Reflecting on the encounter with the “Rude Boy” singer, Carey said, “It was hilarious. I had heard Rihanna might be at the show, but I didn’t expect her to actually be out in the crowd. She was a blast.”

In a fan-recorded video of the moment, Rihanna can be heard saying, “Wow, this is iconic,” before announcing to the audience, “Mariah Carey is signing my tit, y’all,” using Carey’s microphone.

The two stars embraced afterward, as the crowd erupted with applause and cheers.
