On Wednesday, Nov. 12, Trainor dropped her new single “Still Don’t Care,” announced an upcoming album, and revealed details for her Get in Girl Tour.

Meghan Trainor has officially launched her new musical era — and it’s her boldest, most self-assured one yet.

On Wednesday, Nov. 12, the 31-year-old singer-songwriter announced her upcoming album, Toy with Me, while releasing the first single, “Still Don’t Care.” Though upbeat and catchy, the song carries a deeper message: reclaiming her power in the face of social media criticism.

“My page is usually a friendly, happy, mom-loving space, but it took a darker turn,” Trainor told PEOPLE ahead of the announcement.

She explained that fans began commenting on her body, calling her too thin and claiming she looked unrecognizable. “I’d been focusing on my health and fitness and had never felt better, so it was confusing and upsetting,” she said, admitting that some of the criticism even brought her to tears.

Working through these feelings in therapy, Trainor reflected on why she had allowed strangers to hold so much influence over her emotions. That reflection inspired her to write “Still Don’t Care.”

“I loved the idea of thinking it over and then saying, ‘Nope, I still don’t care,’” she explained. “Singing it became my therapy — my exposure therapy.”

Trainor emphasized the importance of the song, especially in today’s world. “I love it so much and believe in it deeply. The world can be dark and hateful, so if this song can bring even a little light, that’s amazing.”

The lyrics touch on lifelong feelings of being told she’s “doing too much,” something Trainor has faced repeatedly. Her coping mechanism? Thoughts inspired by her mother’s darkly humorous outlook on life. “She always says, ‘Well, don’t worry. One day we’ll be dead forever,’” Trainor shared. “It reminds me that we only have one life, and at some point, we need to stop caring about the small stuff. That’s my goal, what I’m working on.”

The singer added that the song is part of retraining her mindset. “When I sing it over and over, I’ll start to believe it. I recommend playing it every morning, learning every word, and singing it at the top of your lungs until it sinks in. It takes work, but it’s worth it.”

Alongside her album announcement and new single, Meghan Trainor also revealed details for her upcoming Get in Girl Tour, which is slated to kick off in Clarkston, Michigan, in June 2026. The tour will make stops at more than 30 arenas and amphitheaters across North America before wrapping up on August 15 in Los Angeles. A portion of the proceeds will benefit The Trevor Project.

Trainor shared her excitement about the tour’s high-energy performances: “I’m going to be taking dance lessons and staying in top shape. We’ll be jumping, dancing — it’s going to be a party for everyone: kids, adults, grandparents. I love seeing grandparents in the crowd and dads singing every word. That’s my favorite.”

Tickets go on general sale Friday, Nov. 21, at 10 a.m. local time via MeghanTrainor.com. Fans can also access an Amex presale starting Nov. 18, and an artist presale beginning Nov. 19. To register for the artist presale, sign up at livemu.sc/meghantrainor by 10 p.m. PT on Nov. 16.
