Miranda Kerr and Katy Perry continue to prove that healthy co-parenting — and genuine friendship — can go hand in hand.
During an October 7 appearance on Today With Jenna & Friends, the 42-year-old Australian model spoke warmly about her bond with the pop star, 40, as they navigate life as co-parents. Both women share children with their mutual ex, Orlando Bloom.
“Having love and respect for each other is so important,” Kerr said. “Everyone’s human, and it’s really about putting the children first — focusing on what’s best for them and making sure everyone feels accepted and loved.”
Kerr was married to the Pirates of the Caribbean actor, 48, from 2010 to 2013. The two share a 14-year-old son, Flynn Christopher. Since then, Kerr has remarried Snapchat co-founder Evan Spiegel and welcomed three more sons: Hart, 7, Myles, 6, and Pierre, 19 months.
Bloom later began dating Perry, and though the couple recently ended their nine-year relationship and engagement in June, they continue to co-parent their 5-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove.
Kerr and Perry have long maintained a close and supportive relationship. In a 2021 episode of the Moments with Candace Parker podcast, the KORA Organics founder said their friendship feels almost familial.
“We go on holidays together. We celebrate all the important milestones together,” Kerr shared. “I love her — honestly, I’d say I love her more than Flynn’s dad.”
She affectionately described Bloom as being “like a brother — and most of the time, an annoying brother,” joking that Perry helps her “deal with him.”
Reflecting on her first meeting with the “Hot N Cold” singer, Kerr said their connection was instant.
“When Orlando started dating Katy, he invited me over and she was there. We just immediately got along,” Kerr recalled. “I saw how she interacted with Flynn — she was so playful and kind. She wasn’t trying to be his mom, just friendly and fun. That’s all you can ask for.”
Together, the two women have shown that mutual respect and kindness can make modern co-parenting not only possible — but genuinely positive.
