Rod Stewart has addressed the reality of his marriage to Penny Lancaster in response to recent reports of a supposed ‘rift’ between them.

The rocker stated, “Penny and I are more in love than ever after 27 wonderful years,” addressing the numerous “false” reports about their relationship.
Rod Stewart is clarifying the status of his marriage to Penny Lancaster. Following reports from various outlets suggesting trouble in their relationship, the 79-year-old rocker issued a statement via Instagram on August 29, 2024, to refute the “false articles.”
“We want to set the record straight,” Stewart wrote. “There is absolutely no rift between Penny and me, nor any disagreement about where we should live. In fact, it’s quite the opposite,” he added, addressing a specific rumor that the couple—married since June 2007—is disputing a potential move from Los Angeles to the UK.
“We permanently returned to our cherished Britain a year ago but are lucky to have homes in various countries that we love to visit,” Stewart explained. “Initially, we considered selling our LA home, but after spending a wonderful summer there with family and friends during my Vegas residency, we decided it makes sense to keep it.”
He also mentioned that two of his eight children still reside in their Los Angeles home.
“Penny and I are more in love than ever after 27 wonderful years. Please trust me, there’s no discord in our marriage,” he concluded, signing off as “Rod ‘a very lucky man’ Stewart.”
Stewart, 79, and Lancaster, 53, first met in 1999 after Stewart’s separation from his ex-wife Rachel Hunter.
Reflecting on his initial encounter with Penny Lancaster, Rod Stewart recounted to PEOPLE in 2021, “Rachel ended our relationship on a Monday evening, and it was very painful. No one leaves Rod! But by that Saturday night, I met Penny at the Dorchester Hotel in London.”
He humorously recalled, “My bass player, Carmine, said, ‘You’ve just come out of a long nine-year marriage. You’re not ready yet.’ I almost choked him!” He laughed, adding, “Six months later, he gave me Penny’s phone number, and she came over.”
“She has healed my heart in more ways than one,” Stewart noted.
The “false” reports about Stewart and Lancaster’s marriage surfaced about two months after the couple celebrated their 17th wedding anniversary.
On Monday, June 17—one day after their official anniversary—the musician shared a photo of himself and Lancaster posted by his son Alastair’s girlfriend, Eloise Darlington. The photo was captioned, “Celebrating 17 years of love.”
Stewart praised their time together, commenting, “25 years together and no red flags.”
