Selena Gomez has exciting news for her fans!
On Thursday, February 13, the singer and actress surprised everyone by revealing that she and her fiancé, Benny Blanco, have collaborated on a new album titled I Said I Love You First. Set for release on Friday, March 21, this marks the couple’s first musical project together.
Gomez and Blanco announced their engagement on Instagram in December 2024 after dating for more than a year.
In an Instagram post, the Only Murders in the Building star shared: “I always trick you guys 🥰. My NEW album I Said I Love You First with my best friend @itsbennyblanco is out on 3/21 🖤.”
The 32-year-old continued, “Our first song, ‘Scared of Loving You,’ is available now on all streaming platforms. Merchandise and signed products for the album are available for pre-order. We can’t wait to share this special project with you soon!”
Blanco, 36, responded sweetly in the comments, writing, “I love you, baby.”
The lead single from Gomez’s fourth studio album, Scared of Loving You, debuted on Thursday alongside a visual lyric video.
The song was co-written by Gomez, her fiancé Benny Blanco, and eight-time Grammy winner Finneas, with both Blanco and Finneas handling production.
According to a press release, the upcoming album offers fans an intimate look at Gomez and Blanco’s love story.
“This project came together naturally, inspired by the creative ease and comfort they found in working together,” the statement explains. “It captures their journey—from their lives before meeting to falling in love and envisioning their future.”
Before their engagement and upcoming album, Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco had already collaborated on multiple musical projects. Blanco co-produced Kill Em with Kindness and Same Old Love from Gomez’s 2015 album Revival.
The two also worked together on the 2019 track I Can’t Get Enough with Tainy and J Balvin, where Gomez appeared in the music video wearing pajamas while Blanco dressed as a giant teddy bear. Their most recent collaboration before the new album was in August 2023, when they teamed up for Single Soon.
In January 2024, Gomez, who stars in Emilia Perez, shared on the SmartLess podcast that she was considering another album but ultimately prioritizing acting. “I feel like I have one more album in me, but I’d probably choose acting,” she said.
She added, “I’m going to want to relax because I’m tired. I always wanted to be an actress—I never intended to be a full-time singer, but somehow that hobby turned into something else.”
A year later, in January 2025, Blanco hinted in a TikTok video that he and Gomez were working on new music together.
