At LIV nightclub in Miami on Sunday, September 15, the “Hips Don’t Lie” singer, who was celebrating her upcoming single “Soltera” and filming a video with Winnie Harlow, Anitta, Lele Pons, and Danna Paola, abruptly left the stage after a fan appeared to film up her skirt.
In videos taken by fans, Shakira can be seen smiling, dancing, and moving her hips while the crowd cheers in the background.
In the clip, Shakira is seen adjusting the bottom of her dress to ensure she’s properly covered while also making a gesture to someone in the crowd, indicating that she sees them looking where they shouldn’t. The 47-year-old “Whenever, Wherever” artist then places her hands on her hips, does a few shimmies, and signals that she’s finished before leaving the stage.
Shakira’s representatives have declined to comment, and the singer-songwriter has not yet addressed the incident on social media.
Last year, the “Waka Waka” star relocated from Barcelona, where she had lived for eight years—home to her Spanish ex, Gerard Piqué—to Miami with their children, Sasha, 9, and Milan, 11.
In an Instagram post, Shakira bid farewell to Barcelona, explaining that she was moving on after the split to begin “a new chapter.” The English translation of her message read: “I settled in Barcelona to provide my sons with stability, the same stability we are now seeking in a new corner of the world, away from family, friends, and the sea. Today, we start a new chapter in our search for happiness.”
The Grammy-winning singer expressed gratitude to “everyone who rode many waves with me in Barcelona, the city where I learned that, without a doubt, friendship lasts longer than love.”
Shakira also appeared to reference her separation from Piqué, 37, after 11 years in June 2022.
“Thank you to everyone there who encouraged me, dried my tears, inspired me, and helped me grow. Thank you to the Spanish public for always supporting me with care and loyalty. For all of you, this is just a ‘see you later,’ and as my father always said, ‘we’ll see you in the curves!'” she wrote.
