Shakira Takes a Tumble Mid-Performance of ‘Whenever, Wherever’ at Montreal Show

Shakira’s recent concert took an unexpected turn.
At her May 20 show at Montreal’s Bell Centre, the “Hips Don’t Lie” star encountered a slip-up during her performance.
Fans shared videos on X showing Shakira, currently touring with her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran Tour, losing her footing and falling on stage while performing her 2001 hit “Whenever, Wherever.”
The 48-year-old “Waka Waka” singer was moving on stage, just about to start singing the first verse of “Whenever, Wherever,” when she suddenly lost her footing and slipped, falling sideways to the ground.
Despite the stumble, Shakira quickly regained her composure, stood up gracefully, and continued performing without missing a beat.
Afterward, she shared the clip of her fall in an Instagram Stories post, which has since expired, as seen in fan-recorded videos shared on X.
Fans were quick to applaud Shakira’s professionalism and resilience.
“She handled it like the boss she is,” one fan commented on X.
Another wrote, “A perfect example of resilience! I hope she’s okay — falls like this can cause pain the next day.”
One simply praised her with the word “Mother” on the platform.
This wasn’t the first time Shakira faced challenges on her current tour. In February, she was forced to cancel a concert in Peru due to hospitalization for an abdominal issue.
On February 15, she was admitted to the emergency room and shared the news the next day via Instagram Stories.
“I’m sorry to inform you that last night I had to go to the ER for an abdominal problem and am currently hospitalized,” she wrote in a post originally in all caps.
Following her doctors’ advice, she canceled the February 16 show at Lima’s National Stadium — the first of two consecutive concerts in the city.
“I’m very sad I can’t take the stage today,” Shakira said, expressing her excitement to reunite with fans in Peru.
She assured everyone she expected to recover soon and hoped to perform at her second Lima show on February 17.
