The singer’s Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran world tour stop in Medellín, Colombia, originally set for Monday, Feb. 24, has been called off due to circumstances “out of my hands,” Shakira, 48, shared on Feb. 23.
According to Billboard, event organizers cited safety concerns with the venue’s roof at Medellín’s Atanasio Girardot Stadium as the reason for the cancellation.
In a Feb. 22 statement, concert promoter Páramo Presenta explained that during the setup process, “the roof of the stage installed by the local production suffered damage that puts at risk the safety of the artist, her staff, and most importantly, the audience.”
The statement also noted that the promoter and Shakira’s team are working together to reschedule the concert. “We understand that this decision may be disappointing for fans who were eagerly anticipating the show, but safety remains the top priority.”
Addressing the postponed concert in a Feb. 23 post on X, originally written in Spanish, Shakira expressed her disappointment, saying, “My people from Medellín! It pains me so much not to be able to take the stage and sing for you as I had hoped.”
The singer, who is currently in Colombia with her two sons, Milan, 12, and Sasha, 10, shared on Instagram that they were looking forward to experiencing Medellín. “My kids were excited to get to know Medellín, and I was excited to reunite with you and share all the surprises I had planned for them,” she wrote.
Apologizing to fans, especially those who traveled for the show, Shakira explained that the situation was beyond her control. “It’s out of my hands and those of my production team, but I’m sure we’ll find a new date to celebrate together soon,” she assured.
She closed her message with gratitude, saying, “I’m always thankful for your unconditional support. I love you very much and hope to see you very soon.”
Páramo Presenta also confirmed that new tour dates in Colombia are being rescheduled for later this year.
In a post on X, originally written in Spanish, the promoter shared, “Together with Shakira’s team, we are working on new concerts for Colombia in the second half of this year—news that will be celebrated in more than one city in the country.”
News of Shakira’s latest concert postponement follows the cancellation of her Feb. 16 show in Peru due to an “abdominal issue” that required hospitalization.
The Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran tour had just kicked off in Rio de Janeiro on Feb. 11 when the singer experienced health concerns. On Feb. 15, she was hospitalized, later addressing the situation on social media.
“I am sorry to inform you all that last night I had to go to the ER for an abdominal issue and am currently hospitalized,” Shakira shared at the time.
