Katy Perry’s upcoming album, set for release on Friday, September 20, is shaping up to be her most personal yet. In a recent conversation with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, the pop superstar, 39, shared the heartfelt inspiration behind its title, “143.”

“It’s called 143. It’s my angel number. It’s my symbol, it’s my sign,” Perry explained. “A couple of years ago, we were going through a tough time medically in our family, and it was a bit scary. I started seeing 143 in various ways, not just on the phone.”

Reflecting on the experience, the 13-time Grammy-nominated artist described it as surreal. Learning that the angel number “143” signifies “I love you” brought her a sense of solace during that challenging period.

“The message I received from my angels and guides was, ‘I love you. We’ve got you. We’re here to protect you. You’re exactly where you’re supposed to be. You’re on the right path,'” Perry expressed.

She added that this experience made her feel like she’s “precisely where I need to be at this moment” and emphasized her desire to share that love with her fans.

“I truly care about my listeners, and I want to reciprocate the love I’ve received as best as I can, and invite them into this realm of love,” she continued.
