Zara Larsson denies rumors that she was invited to replace Camila Cabello in Fifth Harmony, saying she prefers not to be part of groups.

Was Zara Larsson ever considered to replace Camila Cabello in Fifth Harmony?
After Cabello left the “Work from Home” group in 2016, some fans speculated that Larsson, 28, might join. However, in a recent interview with Tomás Mier for the Spotify Live Room, the “Midnight Sun” singer firmly denied the rumor.
“Oh, no. I don’t do groups,” Larsson said. “I would never be in a group.”
She explained that while she has always admired Fifth Harmony, she could never see herself as a member of a girl group. “I’m a big fan of girl groups. I love them, and it seems like they’re making a big comeback,” she added.
Larsson emphasized her preference for being the lead singer. “I just know personally, if I were in a group, I would be front and center,” she said. “I love girl groups, but I couldn’t handle not singing lead all the time.”
The singer also confirmed that she was never actually approached to join Fifth Harmony. “It wasn’t like that,” she said, recalling her experience touring with Fifth Harmony and Cher Lloyd in 2013. “That tour was amazing—memories for life. What a great time and era.”
Fifth Harmony formed in 2012 during the second season of The X Factor U.S. and originally included Cabello, Normani, Lauren Jauregui, Dinah Jane, and Ally Brooke. As a five-member group, they released an EP and two full albums, scoring hits like “Worth It” and “Work from Home.”
Cabello departed in 2016 to focus on her solo career, releasing four albums and achieving No. 1 Billboard Hot 100 hits with “Havana” and “Señorita.”
Fifth Harmony released one album without Cabello in 2017, before going on an indefinite hiatus in 2018. Since then, all four remaining members have pursued solo careers.
Last year, Normani, Jauregui, Jane, and Brooke reunited briefly to perform with the Jonas Brothers during their JONAS20: Greetings from Your Hometown Tour at the Dos Equis Pavilion.
