“I determine how I live my life,” stated the pop superstar in her Instagram post on Saturday.
Britney Spears is opening up about her experience as a single woman. The 42-year-old pop superstar shared a candid post on Instagram on Sunday morning, reflecting on the peculiarities of her life without a partner.
In her caption, accompanying a photo of a nun sipping tea through a straw, Spears began, “It’s so weird being single.” She delved into her contemplation, acknowledging the ample time she’s had to reflect on both the positive and negative aspects of her life. The singer, who released her memoir, The Woman in Me, in October, confessed, “I’ve realized I don’t talk to myself that nicely at all.”
Spears further revealed, “I’m easily manipulated, and I wear my heart on my sleeve.” However, she expressed a commitment to change, stating, “But I’m definitely changing all that. I have to make time to stop and look around to re-evaluate myself and say, is this good for me???”
“I prefer a routine, and I typically follow the same routine every day,” Spears added.
“I’m honestly bored, but I’m also scared of a lot of things… The way I live my life is mine… I’ve had so many people interfere with that… But to know it’s okay to be selfish with my life and enjoy it is amazing!!!” she continued in the caption.
Spears and her ex-husband Sam Asghari ended their 14-month marriage in August, a separation during which a source informed PEOPLE that she remained “in great spirits despite everything going on.”
“Obviously it’s never an easy thing to go through, but she’s remaining positive and focusing on the future,” the source added. They highlighted that Spears was concentrating on her book release, had an upcoming writers’ camp, and was receiving songs from prominent artists.
Last month, it was revealed that the “Toxic” singer’s memoir, The Woman in Me, sold over 1 million copies in its first week. In a statement, Spears expressed her gratitude, saying, “I am grateful to my fans and readers around the world for their unwavering support.”
