Jamie Spears was indeed seriously ill, but it has been confirmed that he is now on the path to recovery.

Britney Spears’ father, Jamie, was indeed hospitalized due to a bacterial infection, as confirmed by PEOPLE. The 71-year-old faced a severe illness that necessitated hospitalization for the infection. However, he is currently receiving treatment in an infectious disease outpatient facility and is showing signs of improvement. Page Six of The New York Post was the first to report Jamie’s hospitalization.
As of now, a representative for Jamie has not responded to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
This incident is not the first time Jamie Spears has faced a health crisis in recent years. In November 2018, he became seriously ill and was rushed to Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas, where he experienced a spontaneous rupture of his colon. According to a statement from Britney’s team, he underwent emergency surgery and remained hospitalized for 28 days during that period.
The statement released during Jamie Spears’ health crisis in November 2018 stated, “After a long, complicated post-operative period, he is recuperating at home and gaining strength, and is expected to make a full recovery.”
Britney, who was 41 at the time, added to the statement, saying, “I am dedicating my focus and energy to care for my family. We have a very special relationship, and I want to be with my family at this time, just like they have always been there for me.”
Two months later, the singer addressed her father’s health in a now-deleted post on X (formerly known as Twitter). In the post, she announced her decision to take an indefinite break from work and postpone her Las Vegas residency, Domination.

In May, the “Lucky” singer disclosed that her mother had visited her home for the first time in three years, marking a significant development in her family dynamics.
In an Instagram post, Britney Spears shared the heartwarming news about her mother’s visit to her doorstep after a three-year gap, expressing her feelings on the family reunion.
“My sweet mama showed up at my doorstep yesterday after 3 years … it’s been such a long time … with family there’s always things that need to be worked out … but time heals all wounds !!!” Britney began her post.
She continued to share her emotions about the encounter, saying, “After being able to communicate what I’ve held in for an extremely long time, I feel so blessed we were able to try to make things RIGHT !!! I love 💕 you so much !!! Psss… I’m so blessed we can have coffee together after 14 years !!! Let’s go shopping afterwards !!!”
Britney also mentioned her upcoming memoir, “The Woman in Me,” set to be released on October 24. This announcement followed the news from July that she had signed a book deal with Simon & Schuster.
