“The country music icon is releasing four previously unreleased songs as part of the deluxe edition of her ‘Rockstar’ album.”

“Happy birthday, Dolly Parton!

The country music legend celebrated her 78th birthday with a special announcement on Instagram. In a grid post shared on Friday, she revealed her unique way of marking the occasion – by gifting fans with new music.

“Hey fans and friends, It’s my birthday so I’m going to give you a present!” she began the message, presented as an image in the post.

Parton went on to share, “I’m releasing four never-released songs for my birthday, to go with the Rockstar album, and a few others that you may have heard before that were not on the album. I hope you enjoy them, and I hope you all have a happy birthday for me! LOL.”

She concluded her message with a heartfelt note to her fans, expressing her gratitude, and wrote, “Thanks for everything, Dolly.”

The star captioned her post, “Surprise! Stream ‘Rockstar Deluxe’ wherever you get your music ❤️‍🔥.”

Delighted fans flooded the comments section of her post with well-wishes. One fan wrote, “HAPPY BIRTHDAY DOLLY!! THANK YOU FOR MAKING THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE!!” Another expressed, “Love u Dolly!” A third fan penned, “Happy Birthday Dolly!!! You are a gift to us all!! 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖”

The new deluxe version of her rock-inspired album Rockstar, featuring these special new tracks, comes after the album’s initial release in November of the previous year.

Parton initially announced the album’s release in May 2023, revealing that the 30-song record would include 20 iconic covers and nine original songs. In a press release at the time, she shared, “I’m so excited to finally present my first Rock and Roll album Rockstar! I am very honored and privileged to have worked with some of the greatest iconic singers and musicians of all time, and to be able to sing all the iconic songs throughout the album was a joy beyond measure. I hope everybody enjoys the album as much as I’ve enjoyed putting it together!”

In a delightful anecdote, Parton mentioned turning down an afternoon tea invitation from Kate Middleton due to a scheduling conflict, proving that even royalty can’t resist her charm.

In an interview with the U.K. outlet Saga earlier this month, Dolly Parton spoke about her interaction with the Princess of Wales, saying, “I was honored and flattered that she even asked me.”

However, she explained that a demanding schedule prevented her from accepting the invitation. “I only had one full day, and I did not have a second to do anything else besides work,” Parton shared.

The “Jolene” singer expressed her eagerness to accept an invitation for tea from Kate in the future. Parton conveyed her willingness, stating that she would gladly engage in a conversation about their shared passion for helping children. Both the country legend and the Princess of Wales have initiated highly successful programs dedicated to underprivileged children. Parton founded the Imagination Library in 1995, which has distributed 200 million books worldwide to children. Meanwhile, Kate, aged 42, has launched various programs in the U.K., emphasizing the significance of early childhood developmental care.

Parton expressed her admiration for the British royal, noting that she is a big fan of Kate, who recently underwent abdominal surgery. “I think she’s adorable, and I hope someday to be able to sit down and have a good conversation with her,” Parton shared.

This isn’t Parton’s first interaction with the British royals. She previously met Queen Elizabeth during her Silver Jubilee in 1977. Recalling the experience, Parton admitted being “scared to death” about “messing up the curtsy,” but she described the Queen as “very warm, very sweet,” and “very giving.” Reflecting on the backstage encounter after her performance at the Royal Variety Show in Glasgow, Scotland, Parton told Insider, “Just meeting the Queen of England, just to meet a queen, it was amazing.”
